Cooper arrives in Twin Peaks.

Anyone else feel Cooper in Part 17 in the forest acts a lot like “Richard” Cooper does in Part 18?

The way he says we’re going home and everything to do with his body language.

He seems “off” even there but it’s hard to catch from behind the swelling theme song unless you’ve already seen Part 18 multiple times before seeing that sequence again.

Watched it again recently and the mannerisms/intonation appear a lot like the Cooper we see throughout Part 18.

Saw a reddit thread about Part 18 and it reminded me of this stray thought about how Coop's behaving in the previous episode. Googled it and couldn't really find any discussion on this particular point about how different Cooper seems in the forest when intercepting Laura.

It could just be the very serious context of that forest scene. Another interesting thing is that once Cooper is out of Judy’s diner in part 18, he’s acting a lot more like Cooper. His behavior in the diner is quite bizarre, but if he has somehow entered into a dream world (from a previous dream world, probably, with all of TP being dreams inside of dreams), and that particular Odessa dream world is somehow generated by or influenced by Judy, and Judy's diner is a particular Judy node within that world, then he has cause to be interacting with that place in a very strange manner.

The Return is so perplexing. It’s a bottomless well of questions.
