Singer and Twin Peaks stalwart Julee Cruise has passed away.

Her husband posted this message to a Facebook page dedicated to band The B-52's:

"For those of you who go back I thought you might want to know that I said goodby to my wife, Julee Cruise, today. She left this realm on her own terms. No regrets. She is at peace. Having had such a varied music career she often said that the time she spent as a B filling in for Cindy while she was having a family was the happiest time of her performing life. She will be forever grateful to them. When she first stepped up to the mic with Fred and Kate she said it was like joining the Beatles. She will love them always and never forget their travels together around the world. I played her Roam during her transition. Now she will roam forever. Rest In Peace, my love, and love to you all."

Very sad news. She was a great singer and, as much as I like most of the cast and crew, one of only a handful of people without whom Twin Peaks truly would not have been the same... May she rest in peace.

This hurts, rest in peace Julee! I have two of her Peaks CDs, also on my phone wherever I go. World spins...

Giving her albums a listen in tribute today, but I don't think I'll be able to make it through "The World Spins" without collapsing into a complete mess.

Crushed. I was able to see her briefly at the Twin Peaks Festival several years ago. For me, Julee and the music she made with Angelo and David was a massive part of the magic of Twin Peaks.

Terrible way to start the day. Julee Cruise was vital to the magic of Twin Peaks. She will definitely be missed.

This sucks, some of the best parts of the show and also the movie will always be associated with her music for me.

Incredibly sad that she’s gone, but glad she went out on her own terms. Her music truly defined the series in so many key moments. Here’s a deeper cut some may not be aware of, an Elvis Presley cover produced by Lynch and Badalamenti, recorded specifically for Wim Wenders’s Until the End of the World:

I was bewitched by her in the pilot. 2002. 17 years old. Transported somewhere that felt like a beautiful and somehow different world for the first time. Such beauty and tragedy to her scenes in TP, an overwhelming and all-encompassing feeling of profundity. My God, The World Spins/Maddie death scene in season two is the most affecting and possibly important scene ever filmed, and she helped me through it. An angel.

Gone but never to be forgotten. “Questions in a World of Blue” and “The World Spins” as used in FWWM and TP Ep 14, respectively, are two of the most moving and beautiful scenes ever. And Floating Into The Night is a classic album, I’m lucky to have an original pressing on vinyl and it sounds wonderful. RIP to an angel with the most angelic of voices. ♥️
