I'm irrationally excited about this. I have a feeling it'll just be a music video for a single off his upcoming new album, based on what Sabrina has said recently, but still! Any new Lynch work, even if it's minor, is worth being excited about.

Oh, man. I really wish he announced this closer to June FIVE. Now I have a solid week+ of telling myself over and over again, "it's just a music video, it's just a music video" while that one, single brain cell keeps calling out in the darkness, "you know, it could still be Wisteria."

Whatever it is, I'm happy to see and hear it.

Yeah, I think for a lot of people (or at least for me) the ravenous nature of our speculation was because of how great the title it is.

Sacred Bones, Lynch's main music label, retweeted his announcement vid so put another check in the "probably a music video" column.

Edit: they also reposted it on Instagram with the caption "Dear readers… something is coming June 5th", which would be a really weird thing to do if they weren't involved somehow, in my opinion. Dreams of a secret new film project, we hardly knew ye.

I wonder if they are slow rolling more official confirmations about being music related after the announcement vid went viral and rampant speculation about it being film related started spreading like wildfire. Seems odd to so quickly kinda kill the mystery. It’s pretty much confirmed it’s new music and it’s barely under a week until June 5th.

We did but World of Reel, Deadline, Vulture, IndieWire and countless other outlets wrote it up speculating it could be a new film/TV project so a lot of casual fans who aren’t as plugged in have run wild with it. And while I never expected a full on new film drop out of nowhere, I did kinda hold on to some hope it could be a teaser/pre-production trailer with some sound design and titles announcing that UN is back on somewhere, or Snootworld, etc.

Somebody on reddit cracked the case early. It's a Chrystabell album produced by Lynch called Cellophone Memories.
