Those are my exact same merch picks! Plus the Lynch print of the titular peaks. My ring is also oversize, even though I looked up a couple "how to measure" guides; I've come to think this can really only be done correctly in-person, like trying on shoes. I only ever intended for it to rest on my Z-A set anyway.

Other than that I really only spring for stuff with story content of some kind, so I don't have the new trading card sets, but I do have the old ones for the on-brand blurbs.
That’s comforting to know about the ring size. I’m glad it wasn’t just me.

I’m grateful that all the old trading cards are on the Blu Ray since they have some relevant character and backstory information. I have wondered whether the new ones have comparable info, especially back when I was working on my timeline since the old cards definitely had relevant info that I incorporated. But collecting trading cards is so pricey and time consuming, I elected not to go down that rabbit hole.

I would've been interested in getting them but after a cursory look they seemed to be far more dry and didn't have any exclusive bits of info. Looking back on it it's a miracle for my wallet that the old cards were sold in complete sets.

That makes sense. I think I may have checked them out too back then, but I can’t remember for sure anymore. Short of Mark Frost writing material for them during a period when he was very busy writing two books, there wouldn’t have been anyone Lynch/Frost would trust to write any kind of substantial new canon material for them.

Plans approved for the Packard Sawmill site. That and the sheriff’s station are to go. This follows the high school and Twin Peaks sign area.

Very sad news, but sounds like the right thing to do for the local economy, so it’s hard to blame them. Along with all the actors we’ve lost since The Return, we’re also starting to lose these iconic locations. Once again, we were so grateful to get that season when we did, and that most of the people and places from the earlier seasons were miraculously available.

At the appointed hour, she will appear and block the destruction of these sacred sites.

I seem to recall Dick's mentions in Frost's books being a bit akin to what you mentioned at the end - the small town yokel trying to be an aristocrat still. I'd be happy to see him in any form. But I admittedly loved the comedy in S3, and much of the comedy in S2 that a lot of people despise, like the pine weasel and even a fair amount of Civil War Ben and Teen Nadine until those storylines overtake whole episodes (Mike and Nadine should really get back together). Of course I'm a dreamer, since I'm still holding out for seeing Harriet Hayward again.

Maybe Dick can have partnered with the Mitchums on a new casino in Twin Peaks or just across the country line, and he is Candie's new Svengali, unaware of course of her obvious connection to the White Lodge.
Nadine does split up from Ed Hurley in Season 3. That leaves her free to start dating Mike Nelson again...

Hey all! I've been rewatching Peaks lately, both the OG series and The Return - watched all of the Return and loved it more than ever (despite many flaws), and then I ended up, well, returning to certain Parts of it.

Particularly Part 16.

I might make a new thread specifically about my observations, but man... I just love Part 16 so much. There's at least 3 or 4 scenes that make me tear up every time and stand with Lynch's finest work ever. The main ones being "I Am The FBI" and Dale's goodbye to Janey-E/Sonny Jim, and then the mindboggling ending scene at the Roadhouse.

I think Dale's return in this episode is almost just SO powerful that I don't mind the fact that it took 15 hours to get there, nor that we only really get Coop in this form for 1-2 hours tops. It's brief but it's beautiful and moving and it really feels like the "eye of the duck" of the whole thing, emotionally, just the enormous relief and welling up of nostalgic emotions as soon as Coop becomes Coop again. Amazing.

And then Audrey's stuff... First off I love the music choice here.. Vedder's song really is beautiful on its own as well as in the way it relates to Audrey and Cooper's stories. And then when the crowd shuffles to the side and Audrey's Dance is announced... it's possibly the best depiction I've seen of that sort of nightmare where you have a test but you're naked in front of the class, or have to perform in some way and are humiliated, etc. It's such pure dream logic, nothing about the way the Roadhouse staff and customers act makes logical sense except as a way to get Audrey to do her dance, and then... wake up? Who knows, but man do I adore that ending sequence.

I also found Part 11 to be a delight on this rewatch, even more than ever before. It's definitely one of the parts with the best pacing, and the most perfect combination of humor, pathos and momentum. Like Parts 7 and 16, it's one of the parts of TR that most feels like a true continuation of the style and feel and pacing of the old Peaks (albeit still massively different in certain ways ofc). Plus, Gordon's deadpan "He's dead." is one of the biggest laugh lines of the series for me (along with the impatient old woman driver/zombie kid).

As far as the original series, I did a random rewatch of Episodes 12-14, and I think it's a great stretch - I always loved 13 and especially 14 but this time I found a lot more to like about 12 as well. Most of all, though, I think the last 10 minutes of Lynch's Episode 14 are easily the finest work of his entire career and one of the most harrowing and beautiful things committed to celluloid. Few scenes in film or TV depict murder with such visceral, repulsive reality - the shots of BOB with their stylized lighting and slow-motion are ostensibly scarier but it's actually the more plain-looking, matter-of-fact shots of Leland and Maddy that are the most wrenching. The Cheshire Cat-style grin Leland has right before he lunges at Maddy is especially disturbing - he almost has the air of a cartoon character, like Tom and Jerry, but in the darkest way imaginable. It's just beyond words how powerful that whole sequence, including the Roadhouse, is. It's impossible not to weep along with Donna every time as all those characters feel that certain ineffable sadness in the air.

Beautiful post, @David Locke. I agree with everything you said.

Cooper's return in Part 16 is perfect. It never bothered me that it took so long for it to happen.
Thanks, Stavrogyn! You know, I've had an up-and-down relationship with The Return - always loved parts of it but had problems with others. But this latest rewatch I found myself appreciating it all more. There are certain things I just can't abide (Green Glove), or a few parts that I find so-so (mainly Pt 12), but the strengths are so incredibly good that I can overlook any flaws. Parts 2, 3, 5-8, 11 & 15-18 are all masterful, and that's the bulk of it.

And I feel The Return becomes more precious to me the more we, sadly, lose more members of the TP lineup, from Badalamenti and Julee to Al Strobel. We are very lucky Lynch & co. got to make TP:TR at the exact moment that they did.

I also appreciate and love Dougie's scenes more and more each time. I think it's such a beautiful way to show us the heart and goodness of Coop trapped inside a childlike body. It feels less like a tease and more like a profound commentary on modern life, the more time passes and the more I rewatch. Naomi is so hilarious and wonderful as Janey-E, too. Just so terrific that we got 18 hours of Peaks to pour over and analyze and enjoy for years to come. Even if that's the end of the road for TP (as I suspect it is), it's still such a great gift from L&F, and I'm more grateful than ever that it exists.

Riley Lynch (David's son and a PA on the set of The Return) had a little photo dump story on IG day with some fun BTS stuff from set:IMG-1081.PNGIMG-1082.PNGIMG-1084.PNGIMG-1085.PNGtptr1.png

I thought it was a dummy, not an actor, back when I saw a picture of Kyle posing with him, but I guess it's an actual person.

I wonder if it’s Kyle’s brother Craig (who played the murdered hobo on the original series and looks almost exactly like Kyle)?

I was almost certain that it is in fact a dummy. I recall seeing it/him in the room in the behind the scenes footage. But now of course I can't be sure.

I guess it could go either way. In the picture on the floor with Riley he/it is looking to the right, and the teeth appear to be closed and visible, while in the photo with Kyle, he/it is looking straight ahead with a gaping mouth showing no teeth, but a dummy could certainly be made to do these things.
